Six Flags Holiday Festival

Yesterday Shan and I met Andrea and Lisa at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo. It was the kick off to their Holiday Festival and the park was open from 4pm-9pm.
Christmas decorations adorned the park. Twinkle lights were on most trees and the costumed characters all wore Santa hats. In the middle of the plaza at the entryway stood a gigantic tree, beautifully decorated with lights and giant ornaments. I took a picture of it on my cell phone, although it didn't turn out too well I have still included it at the bottom of this blog. Music filled the park and children and adults sang along. I love Christmas music, so I even danced to it when waiting in line for the rides.

Oh, the Rides!! I love amusement parks!! Roller coasters are my favorite. However, Shan doesn't like roller coasters because he is afraid of heights. I was glad Lisa and Andrea were there to ride them with me. Riding with friends is much more fun than riding with strangers. The park wasn't very busy, so the lines were short. We never waited more than 15 minutes for our turn.
This Six Flags had animals in the park. We watched two shows while we were there. First was the Shouka Holiday Show starring Shouka the killer whale. It was amazing to see her do all of her tricks and jumps, she was so well trained. Then we went to a Dolphin holiday show which had 4 dolphins, all with their own trainers, performing tricks. I had never seen a show with sea animals and was amazed by both shows and all that the animals could do. I was a bit sad however, because the tanks weren't very big. I felt they deserved a bit more space.

After all of that, Shan and I left the park and headed back to Hayward. We ate at a wonderful, local Italian restaurant. I forgot the name of it, but know exactly where it is. I will definitely go back! :D
