Announcing the 44th President of the United States
I stayed in tonight glued to the television watching poll results wave in by time zone. I am still watching the reports on TV as the final electoral vote count has not been determined.
Barrack Obama won the election! (And by large numbers)
WOW! I am amazed that he made it; I didn't know if it could be done. His speech in Chicago presented a message of shared sacrifice and government for the people as ways of fixing this country. I agree very much with such a message. We all have to give a little in order to better society. We also need to remember that government is by the people and for the people - we elect our officials, they work for us. I am inspired by this President Elect. The people have spoken and we want change.
I wish President Elect Obama the best of luck in the next few weeks and in his upcoming presidency. I hope he can live up to the high expectations that have been set for him. These are grave times and this country needs hope, but also action.
