Move In, NSE Orientation, and Today's Plans
I am moved into my new home. Sunday move in went quite well. I have 3 suite mates and 1 roommate. Jolanna is my roommate. Nimatu and Sarah live in the other room but we all share the same apartment. It is a good setup. The place is a lot bigger than I expected it to be.
Yesterday I went to the orientation for International and Exchange students. The other people here through the NSE program are all very interesting. We all hit it off right from the start. We organized a "field trip" for today. In a few minutes we are all going to San Francisco to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge and see some other sights. There's 11 of us who are going - 8 of us from different states in the US, including Alaska and New York; 1 from Canada; and 2 other exchange students here from Germany.
Housing has been hosting several programs and events. Yesterday they had a speaker there to teach college kids how to drink! What a great job, teaching college kids how to drink. He gave a lecture on alcohol and substance abuse but it was very different than the usual "just say no" lectures. He was engaging and entertaining and I could tell that many of students walked away knowing a lot more about how to party responsibly. Tonight is a free movie, "Iron Man", but I don't think I will make it back in time to watch.
There is so much free food on this campus! All of the events I went to yesterday provided me with free breakfast, free lunch, free dinner and free root beer floats! Today I also had a free lunch. I may not have to buy food for a week! :)
Tomorrow I finally begin classes! I ready to start classes. I haven't been in school since the second week in May... it feels like I have taken a whole semester off because my summer has been so long. I'm ready to get back into the swing of things, open my mind, and begin learning again!!!
Will post again soon, a lot is going on so I will have tons of updates!
