Caltrain Outing

Yesterday I took my first ride on the Caltrain. I rode from Sunnyvale to San Francisco to meet someone from Craigslist who was selling a bicycle I was interested in. It's a long ride to San Fran on the train because of how many stops there are.

After about 30 minutes of being on the train a man a few years older than me got on. He put his large bag up front and then sat down behind me. Two stops later, he got up to move his luggage in the front. That's when a crazy passenger decided to join our train.

This crazy passenger went off on the guy fixing his luggage because he was in the way. The man apologized but that did not console the crazy passenger. He decided to sit across from the man he was harassing so he could continue to rip into the poor guy. The crazy passenger kept saying things like "get a clue" and calling the man who was ignoring him "sunglasses". Then he went on a sermon about how all of us on the train were clueless and that turned into a political rant about his disliking of G.W. and the wars. He ended that by chanting "USA! USA! USA!" while pumping his fist in the air.

He wasn't on the train very long, luckily. But, of course, before he left he shouted some obscenities at "Sunglasses". When he stepped off of the train a few fellow passengers actually applauded. The man behind me seemed unfazed and kept reading his paper. The crazy passenger was probably mentally unstable or on drugs. I even wonder if he had a ticket or not because he got off of the train so quickly and then just stood outside watching the train go bye, waving it on.

My first public transportation trip was an exciting one.

In San Francisco I went to the bike showing that the Craigslister was having at a storage unit. There were three other women waiting when I got there. He showed up late but seemed nice enough. The bikes were not good. This man works for the dump... err... I mean... the "waste management facility" as he called it. During the week he "collects" bicycles from his work and fixes them up on the weekend. The following week he takes them to his storage shed, posts a listing on Craigslist and then sells them. There was a really cute '77 Classic Shwinn, but it was not in good condition. It needed work and I had no idea how much it would cost to fix it up. Not the bicycle for me. Hopefully I will find one soon.

Tomorrow Shan and I are going to Yosemite National Park! I am so excited. A group of us are renting a van and road tripping there early in the morning. I will post lots of pictures on Monday so everyone can see the beauty of Yosemite.

Chels! I'm just going to throw this out there... I really miss you. The epic center is not the same without you, nor is the secret service as interesting. I do hope however that you are enjoying California and taking lots of pictures! I will also make sure I drink one for you on Monday, since you can't celebrate with me! Keep the entries coming! I need some form of entertainment in my super boring and rather busy life! Miss you! :)
